The end of the year is a great time for business owners to wrap things up and start fresh in January. We’ve put together this end of year checklist for your birth photography business so you can finish off the year strong and be better prepared going into 2022!
End of Year Checklist for Birth Photographers:
Update the copyright year at the bottom of your website.
Refresh your portfolio with your most recent work: This is a great time to start getting together your best photos to submit to photography competitions. (Our Annual Image Competition will open for submissions in January!)
Remember your why. It’s good practice to remember why you’re doing this. Write it down and display it prominently in your workspace to keep handy for those days you’re feeling burnt out.
- Fun tip: Use a template like this one from Canva to add a bit of decor to your space.
The end of the year also means taxes and bookkeeping. Spend some time going through your books to make sure everything looks in good order. If possible, work with a professional to guarantee accuracy. We also appreciate resources such as The Rising Tide Society that offer free resources for creative businesses.
Reflect on the past year. Take a few minutes to think about your successes and obstacles from the past year. Celebrate your achievements and learn from the setbacks!
Set your 2022 goals. If you haven’t already, set your goals for this upcoming year. Keep in mind that goals don’t just have to be financial. Maybe you are thinking about rebranding or starting a blog or podcast. Write down your intentions to reflect back on next year!
Keep your eye out for our Image Competition announcement in January. Each year we are proud to host the International Birth Photography Image Competition. During this event, the talent of our members receives worldwide attention and our goal of spreading the beauty of birth is further achieved!
What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
