Hey Cass!
I think going with lower f stops will always be the best way to go. It’s just a better quality glass even if you do use flash. However if you don’t, it will perform better in low light regardless, which is great!
M1 macbooks are still soooooo good for being an ‘older’ model nowadays. If you are just doing LR and Photoshop, it’ll be perfect for editing. Even if you venture in to video editing (da vinci resolve is my suggestion) it’ll still perform great. If you video edit on FCP or Premiere, it will struggle.
For flash, you can use the ‘black foamy thing’ which is just a black piece of foam wrapped around the flash with an opening at the top (you can do a quick google or even search in our FB group to find some pics!) This will help soak up some of the light and provide for some softer shadows. I don’t personally use it though- I just bounce off the ceiling and shoot flash manual mode, NOT TTL (which means through the lens) and is a sort of auto settings that chooses the power for you. Which I don’t want lol.
I love this space and so glad we have it! I hope that answers your questions!
I just upgraded to the Nikon z6iii and I’m pumped to use it next week. I’ll post some pics when I get back from the birth <3
