Learn About Diana Hinek

I come to this work not just as a professional, but as a mother who has walked many different birth paths myself. I’ve experienced cesarean birth, VBAC, home birth, and loss. I know the power of these moments because I have lived them. And what keeps me showing up, birth after birth, is witnessing the instant a mother falls in love with her baby. That moment—when time seems to pause and love fills the room—is what I am obsessed with capturing and honoring. It is the purest love there is, the kind people spend their whole lives searching for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join the mentorship if I don't have a membership?

No, you must have an Emerging Membership with IAPBP to join the mentorship program. We offer a variety of membership options to suit everyone! To access exclusive benefits like the mentorship program, the Emerging membership or Accredited Membership tiers are the best options. Read more about our membership packages here.

Who are the mentors, and what are their qualifications?
Our mentors are hand chosen direct from the birth photography community. These are established birth photographers in their own country, are always willing to give to community freely, incredibly knowledgeable in photography (and sometimes videography!) Some have been certified via varous organisations, others have been accredited via IAPBP and most have all won some sort of award over their career. We are proud to introduce you to our mentors.
What is the time commitment and schedule?
This program consists of 5 fortnightly calls with your mentor. There is also a space for discussion on our website where your mentor and other members of your cohort can help answer any questions you have. Each call is 1.5 hours and replays are offered if you miss them live.
How many does the program cost?
Nothing! Its free and included in your membership!
What are the program's goals and expected outcomes?
To pair you with a mentor that is experienced and can answer any questions you have either on your fortnightly mentoring call, or in our mentorship dedicated forum. This program is tailored to those who are in it. We cover the foundations of being a birth photographer and running a business to make sure you feel confident and competent moving forward in your birth photography journey.
What happens after the program?

Your mentor will help you choose a portfolio to submit to apply for accreditation. If your portfolio is approved you’ll be asked to pay the difference between your Emerging membership and the Accredited membership. If your portfolio is declined, you may submit as many times as you’d like under your emerging membership until renewal. You are also able to join any /or all other mentorship program you’d like; including watching replays from other mentorship cohorts.

I'd love to watch a different mentor, but I don't speak their language.

All of our mentorship video replays are hosting in our educational library that you’ll have access to as part of your Emerging membership. We translate all of our videos to various languages. This includes: English, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, and French. Our goal is to ensure accessibility to as many languages and cultures as possible. If the mentor you’d like to watch was in Spanish, we have English, French, Portuguese and Dutch subtitles available (and so forth)
